Brisvegas - Bigger and Better
We said in our AMMS 2006 Modelling Calendar, great people, great models and great place! We could add a number of other superlatives, but we all know how shy and modest Queenslanders can be.
A contingent from AMMS Sydney made the trip up again this year and from all accounts were looked after royally by our bretheren in AMMS Brisbane. Thanks guys, your hospitality is much appreciated.
Again, the quality of the the entries was high. This great set of images taken and shared with us by Greg Neal, which are featured below, bring this quality out admirably.

Here are some general views from around the show before the doors opened:
AMMS Brisbane put on an impressive display again this year:
Unfortunately, some of us couldn't get there this year.
Dave Hay of
Models moved house from Wollongong for the weekend, miraculously without breaking an axle on his car:
But enough of this meandering, it's the competition we want to see!!
Armour
A really interesting range of entries, with a few in larger scales too (see the first image below). The World War I entries especially show a full range of skills from precise scratchbuilding to heavy mud groundwork blended into the individual model's finishes.
Aircraft
Aircraft entries again were of a high standard.
Figures
Civilian Vehicles
Another well-supported catagory. With, surprise, surprise, some actual weathering!! Check out the Mini - must be a ring-in from the armour modellers. Steady on, lads.
Ships
These pieces caught our eye.
Club Displays
Clubs from near and far turned out in force. Here is an overview of some of the displays. In addition to these individual club displays, there were demonstrations of modelling techniques and materials running almost continuously throughout the weekend, which is a major feature of the QMHE shows - there's always something to see.
Conclusion
QMHE was been and gone for another successful year. This show gets better each year and is really a "must-see". It's hard to think of anyone who loves good modelling who wouldn't enjoy themselves in Brisvegas at this show.
As we said, great people, great models, great place.
