We went on the annual road trip to the nation's capital, Canberra last week for Scale ACT 2007 hosted by the ACT Scale Modellers' Society. Take a peek at our coverage!

Well, it's been a while, but we're back. And to restart our updates, we can't think of a better subject than the 2007 NSW Scale Model Competition & Expo organised by the Illawarra Plactic Modellers Association. Our coverage has over 200 images and we still didn't get it all!!

The meeting calendars for AMMS Sydney and AMMS Brisbane have been updated (at last!!).

It takes a certain, shall we say, "bent" to choose scratchbuilt armour of the Spanish Civil War in 1:72 scale as your modelling subject. But to try modelling while travelling, well, I ask you! But our resident Ibero-Braille expert and inveterate traveller, Senor Ley Reynolds, somehow manages, and shares some timely advice for those who wish to try modelling on the move.

Well, better late than never. We've updated our local modelling calendar for 2007, which is looking rather sparse with a couple of local shows cancelled this year.

M1A1 Abrams Arrives in Australia. This feature comes from AMMS member Paul Handel, who was on hand when Australia's new Main Battle Tank arrived in Melbourne and made its first antipodean journey in Australian Army hands from the docks to the RAAC's School of Armour at Puckapunyal, Victoria. The images include some nice shots of the Army's new MAN 8X8 Tractors loaded, and the new M88A2 Armoured Recovery Vehicles.

Competition Gallery - Queensland Model and Hobby Expo 2006 featuring 70+ images from Greg Neal. Another wonderfully successful year for the QMHE organisers.

Yum Cha - a large meal made up of lots of small helpings from a wide variety of dishes. Well, that certainly describes the first entry in our new AMMS Good Museum Guide - Tank Museum of the People's Liberation Army. This feature comes from AMMS member Ley Reynolds, who visited this rarely seen museum outside of Beijing in June, and is heavy on modern Chinese tank and APC designs, but also includes some US and rare Japanese equipment. We've broken out many of these vehicles (mainly Chinese and Japanese) into separate Reference Walkarounds as well.

Walkaround - Centurion Mk 5/1 ARN 169108 from Shane Lovell. There are thought to be only two Australian Centurions remaining with South Viewtnam modifications intact. We've already covered one of them, ARN 169017, in two separate Walkarounds. This new Walkaround covers the other, ARN 169108, and is significant because it has modifications not found on ARN 169017. We've also updated our Australian Centurions in a Nutshell feature with this new material. Many thanks to Shane for sharing this important and unique material.

Walkaround - Centurion Mk 5/1 ARN 169110. This is a series of images by Dean Ansell of a vehicle preserved at the Australian War Memorial in Canberra, and which is not currently on public display. This series includes just about the only image we have in our Centurion coverage of the IR searchlight stowed in its basket position on the turret rear.

Walkaround - Centurion Mk 5/1 ARN 169017 (Vietnam Modifications) - Part 2. This is a second series of very detailed images of this vehicle by Mark Tucker which complements the first series we featured here a while ago.

Walkaround - Panzerkampfwagen "Tiger" Sd Kfz 181 Ausf. E from Mark Tucker. This series of 45 images shows the newly restored Bovington Tiger in all its glory.

Added new Walkaround - Cruiser Tank Comet A34 Mark 1 from Mark Tucker. This series of 23 images shows the Comet preserved at the Hong Kong Museum of Coastal Defence.
