About AMMS Sydney

AMMS Sydney

Who: The Australian Military Modelling Society (AMMS) was established for those interested in scale modelling any subject of military nature, from figures to field guns, AFVs to aircraft, ships to sci-fi …

The club caters for all skill levels from juniors and beginners, to intermediates, right on to the more advanced modeller and runs in a casual, easy going manner with minimal formality.

Aims: The aims of the Society are to share ideas and techniques in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere, to improve skills and knowledge, and further enjoy and promote the hobby. Advice and assistance is freely available on any model making subject from those present and provided in a helpful, not nit-picky or dismissive, manner.

Features: “How to” demonstrations and workshops will often be a feature at meetings put on by one or more experienced members with a personal specialty or a particular area of expertise they can share.

Quarterly Competitionsas well as an end of year comp are held using a multi-award, “Gold, Silver and Bronze” system where each model is judged on its own merit regardless of other entries present, against a pre-defined score sheet which is then returned to the entrant as learning and feedback guide to aid the modeller.

A small yearly membership fee and plus a few dollars per meeting are levied to cover the venue hire.
